UFH Proud Winner in China Social Impact Awards 2019

On November 7, 2019, this year’s China Social Impact Awards were held in the Grand Ballroom of the China World Hotel in the heart of Beijing’s Central Business District. Organized by the British Chamber of Commerce in China in partnership with the United Nations, their hope for the awards is to help give much-deserved recognition to companies of all sizes and from a range of industries for the positive impact that they all have on the environment and society in China and thus awareness of Corporate Social Responsibility can be both encouraged and raised. By bringing together a community of individuals from small to medium enterpises (SME) and larger multinational companies (MNC), ideas can be more easily shared and society as a whole can benefit.

The awards were separated into seven categories: Employee Engagement; Equality in Education; Universal Healthcare; Community and Culture; Empowerment of Women; Environmental Impact; and Poverty Alleviation.

Out of over 250 companies, 46 finalists were shortlisted, and United Family Healthcare claimed the Universal Healthcare Award in the MNC category with idMASK scooping the SME prize. This award was largely due to the tireless work of the United Foundation for China’s Health which is the corporate social responsibility arm of United Family Healthcare. United Foundation for China’s Health has a rich history of providing access to healthcare to vulnerable populations in China. The Foundation’s mission is to provide life-saving and life-changing surgeries as well as quality primary care to underserved children and adults across China.

Co-founded by United Family Healthcare and its CEO and Founder Roberta Lipson, the Foundation serves as the charitable arm of United Family Healthcare and manages UFH’s annual donation of medical services that provide life-changing treatments to those in need. The Foundation officially registered with Chinese civil affairs authority in January 2018 as a domestic charity.

On the evening of the China Social Impact Awards, Dr. Anna Zhao, Executive Director for the Foundation, was there to pick up the award on behalf of United Family Healthcare and the Foundation. Dr. Zhao said, “United Family Healthcare has provided medical assistance to vulnerable populations in China for over 18 years. In preparation for this evening, we summarized some statistics, which reminded us of how amazing they are. In the past 18 years, UFH has donated a total of RMB150 million in medical services to the Foundation, which has helped the number of patient visits in UFH hospitals and clinics across China to exceed 20,000. We are so happy to receive re cognition from the China Social Impact Awards for this great work. It will help us to continue to give vital medical assistance to many more people in need in the coming years.”
