UFCH’s Wheels for Life Program had an amazing initiative on May 7. They helped organize for United Family Financial Street Clinic to send 1 family dentist, 2 doctors and 15 nurses to give routine physical examinations to 85 first-graders from xingzhi Migrant School.

The health screenings, funded by the Ford Foundation, checked the vital signs, hearing, eyesight, and dental health.

The children also learned about dental hygiene and how to properly brush their teeth, and the clinic generously gave each child a kit with a toothbrush, toothpaste and floss.

Two volunteers from the Foundation, Shreeya and Joanna were also present and provided a lot of help for the adminisration and organization of the event. They helped to package and distribute food to the children, as well as interact with them while they were lining up for the check-ups.

Many of these children might not otherwise have access to health screenings, so it was a great opportunity to encourage healthy habits for these young students!
